PENGARUH GERAKAN LITERASI SEKOLAH DALAM MENINGKATKAN MINAT BACA SISWA SD

Abstract

Interest in reading is still lacking in all circles, even among students and students who are usually considered to be people who wrestle in the world of education. This is because people do not realize the importance of literacy. In addition, there are also quite a lot of obstacles when reading activities. Today the government makes a policy of reading for 10-15 minutes before learning begins. This is done to foster this literacy culture. This study aims to determine the effects and obstacles of the School Literacy Movement (GLS) program on reading interest in students at SDN Melong Mandiri 3. The formulations of the problems in this study are: 1) How is the effect of the GLS program in increasing students' reading interest? 2) What are the barriers to literacy? The subjects in this study were students of grade 5 SDN Melong Mandiri 3. The approach used in this study was qualitative research. The data collection techniques used were questionnaires, observation, documentation, and interviews. The results showed that the students' interest in reading had an effect of 15.7% and had sig. 0.028 <0.05, which means that the School Literacy Movement has an influence in increasing reading interest. The effect of this GLS can also make students more fluent in reading and expressing what they have read. Meanwhile, the obstacle in literacy is that many students cannot make reading at home a culture due to several factors, including no reading books due to economic factors so that they cannot buy books, only some students fill their spare time by reading books and only some students come home. who are interested in visiting the library.
