TEACHING READING BY USING ENGLISH ELECTRONIC BOOK

ABSTRACT

Reading is the one of the crucial skill in learning English. The purpose of this are to investigate teacher’s difficulties in teaching reading by using English Electronic Book and the solutions that the teachers used to solve the problems. The method used in this research was descriptive qualitative method. The data were collected through interview. Then, they were analyzed descriptively. The respondents of this research were English teachers in SMPN 3 Soreang. The results of this study showed that there were some problems faced by the teachers in teaching reading by using English Electronic Book. The problems caused by several aspects such as students’ interest, language used in the book and lack of students’ vocabulary mastery. In addition, the data also found several solutions toward the problems. The solutions covers finding the interesting text from other sources, using attractive media for teaching, creating fun learning activities,  and asking students to read regularly.
